California Dreaming
A quick update as we prepare to head West!
To my dear readers near and far:
Please forgive the long break between posts! Many of you know I have been in the midst of rabbinic placement these past several months. This July I will become the new Senior Rabbi of Hamakom, a dynamic, warm, and wonderful congregation in West Hills, CA.
Now that contract negotiations, home sale, home procurement, kids’ college considerations, etc. are wrapping up, I am delighted to re-engage with my Substack! Over the next several days, I’ll be sharing some podcasts of previous sermons and teachings. I’ll also share an advance copy of my final essay for Jmore, after more than a decade of writing their monthly Baltimore Justice column.
As my family and I make the transition to LA, I hope to use this platform to muse on my new work and adventure while reflecting back from time to time on my years in Baltimore. I’m intensely curious as to how my passion for fostering diverse and pluralistic communities will translate to this new geographic and cultural context.
Stay tuned….

Baltimore will miss you dearly
